All about Elizabeth. . .

I am a beauty expert and the author of unique beauty cookbook, Cooking Well: Beautiful Skin.

As a former make-up artist and skin-care analyst for the Prescriptives Cosmetics Company, I understand and appreciate the value of beautiful skin. Having attended numerous seminars centered around make-up, skin-care, and relating to the public, I have developed my own, informed style. My approach to make-up artistry underscores the relationship between skin quality and desirable results with make-up. The skin must be supple and hydrated before applying make-up. It is a common myth that with the right make-up anyone can look beautiful. If this were true, women would not need to remember to wash their faces or drink water. The truth is that how you care for your skin relates to everything about how you care for yourself, including recognizing the inherent natural beauty within yourself. What you eat and how you feel contribute to how beautiful you look, with or without make-up. In addition to developing antioxidant-rich recipes, I’ve studied natural beauty remedies and solutions. I offer antioxidant-rich “Beauty Bytes” as a fun and creative way to share beauty secrets with my readers.

As a former model, I appreciate the value of outer beauty. Yet, I exemplify the philosophy embodied in my book, which is to value my authentic inner beauty as what radiates outer beauty. Every one of us has a unique beauty, just as unique as one’s heart or mind. While aspiring to become a model, I was judged based solely upon my outer beauty. This incomplete judgment impassioned me to redefine beauty. It ultimately translated to the idea of self-love and identifying with one’s inner beauty, which is the foundation of my book. Cooking Well: Beautiful Skin defines beauty as one’s inner, authentic self. For the past three years, I have practiced meditation with Karin Inana Solo, a Healer/Master and graduate of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, to maintain a sense of inner peace and achieve greater self-knowledge and a deeper sense of self-love. I present my reader with inspirational, philosophical quotes, my own loving thoughts about authentic inner beauty, and meditation exercises. I believe this reflection and introspection are pivotal to attaining our highest potential for beauty. I write that beauty is more than just skin-deep, which is why my cookbook for glowing skin is unique. The book incorporates aspects of the mind, body, and soul, as the way to achieving beautiful skin.

I am a natural chef. As young girl, I would watch the food channel, write all of the recipes down and recreate them at home for my family. I love to cook more for the pleasure that I get from making others happy than for the sake of cooking. I adore someone with a great appetite and an appreciation for delicious, healthy food. It is in my nature to want to make others happy, and it gives me pleasure to do so with my recipes. My antioxidant-rich recipes for glowing skin are healthy, and I believe that beauty and health are synonymous. Pomegranates are my ultimate favorite food, and I loved eating them years before pomegranate juice became popular. Today, there are billboards about the antioxidant power of pomegranate juice and green tea, but there are no billboards for antioxidants you can eat to improve your skin. I actually prefer to eat pomegranate seeds rather than drink pomegranate juice. That got me thinking. I wondered what recipes I could create that would have antioxidant value, and Cooking Well: Beautiful Skin was born.

I have my Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Loyola Marymount University, and was a member of the Phi Sigma Tao, the Philosophy Honor Society. The concept of my beauty cookbook is rooted in the existential philosophy that one is always in a state of becoming. Outer beauty radiates from inner beauty, so the more a person works on her inner self, the more beautiful she will continue to become, inside and out.
