Accomplished beauty expert and international bestselling author, Elizabeth TenHouten, has dedicated her career to redefining the meaning of beauty.



As a former model and skin-care analyst, she has always appreciated the value of outer beauty, but understands it is something that must start from within.

“For me, beauty and health are synonymous,” says TenHouten. “In order to unveil our most beautiful selves, we must nurture our bodies in their entirety – mind, body and spirit.“

Inspired to create a beauty guide that captured the very essence of inner and outer beauty, TenHouten went back to the basics (and nature), blending her background in philosophy (she holds a B.A. in this subject) with her love of healthy cooking, to develop the foundation of her beauty cookbook.

In 2009, Hatherleigh Press published TenHouten’s Cooking Well: Beautiful Skin, a unique beauty cookbook incorporating the scientifically proven health benefits of antioxidants with nourishment for the mind, body, and spirit. Distributed by Random House, Cooking Well: Beautiful Skin provides readers with delicious antioxidant-rich recipes for promoting skin health from the inside out, as well as fun tips and topical treatments designed to achieve radiant and glowing skin naturally. TenHouten’s debut book was quickly recognized for its thoughtful and holistic approach to beauty, receiving praise from celebrites and beauty industry professionals, including renowned dermatologist, Dr. Amron.

TenHouten frequently brings her distinctive approach and expansive knowledge of beauty to various outlets within the industry. In addition to her role as Contributing Beauty Expert for DiscoverBeauty.com, JustBloomBox.com, and ShareCare.com, the heath and wellness social media platform created by Jeff Arnold and Dr. Mehmet Oz in partnership with Harpo Studios, Sony Pictures Television and Discovery Communications; TenHouten’s practical beauty tips and expert advice regularly appear online and in national publications, including Health, Natural Solutions, Natural Health, SobeFit, Star Lee Magazine, American Salon, Working Mother, Your Health Connection, Relate Magazine, Discovery Channel’s Planet Green, Vital Juice Daily, Young Hollywood and Us Weekly, to name a few. In her column, properly titled “Natural Beauty,” TenHouten shares with readers her natural beauty recipes and the value they hold for attaining a glowing complexion – a position she still holds today. Most recently TenHouten released her second beauty book, Natural Beauty: Homemade Recipes for Radiant Skin & Hair (Hatherleigh Press/ Random House), which quickly became an international bestseller on Amazon. Featurings new recipes for homemade topical treatments and remedies inspired by her travels, Natural Beauty is now available on Amazon and in fine bookstores everywhere. TenHouten continues her role as Editor-in-Chief of CelebLife Magazine, a luxury living publication she has lead since 2009. She is a member of Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW), A National Affiliate of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC), and on the Board of Directors of Beauty Industry West (BIW), actively attending affiliated seminars and networking events in the world of beauty.
